Over a period of time, large number of rivers were flowing from the Himalayas. The river system of Ganga included the head streams of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi. With the continuous flow of rivers large amount of silt was brought by the rivers. This silt was deposited along the river side making the fertile lands of Ganga belt.
