5 a) Since ABCD is a ∥gm ⇒AB=CD   
Opposites sides are equaland AD=BC  
Opposites sides are equal⇒2y+2=3x⇒3x-2y=2     
(i)also,Perimeter of ∥gm=sum of sides  ⇒40=2x+2y+2+3x+2x⇒40-2=7x+2y⇒7x+2y=38     
(ii)On solving (i) and (ii)3x-2y=27x+2y=38 On adding10x=40⇒x=4and putting x=4 in (i)3×4-2y=2 ⇒-2y=2-12⇒-2y=-10⇒y=-10-2=5thus the value of x=4 and y=5b) Since ABCD is a ∥gm ⇒∠B+∠C=180°  
sum of angle on same side of transversal⇒y+15°+x+40°=180°⇒x+y=180°-55°⇒x+y=125°     
(i)and ∠A+∠B=180°  
sum of angle on same side of transversal⇒3x-20+y+15=180°⇒3x+y=180°+5⇒3x+y=185°     
(ii)Solving (i) and (ii)x+y=125° 3x+y=185°-   -      --2x=-60°⇒x=30°put x=30° in (i)we get, 30°+y=125°⇒y=125°-30°⇒y=95°thus the value of x=30° and y=95°c) Applying the property of diagonal of rhombus i

 angle of rhombus ∴∠ADB=∠CDB=1202=60°Similaly, ∠ABD=∠CBD=60°Since all angles of ∆ABD is 60° ∴ its an equilateral ∆hence, AB=BD=AD⇒4x-4=3x+2=y-1        I             II            III    Solving I and II4x-4=3x+2⇒4x-3x=2+4⇒x=6Now putting the value of x=6 and soving II and III3×6+2=y-1⇒18+2=y-1⇒y=20+1⇒y=21thus the value of x=6 and y=21
