Answer the following question

Solution -
In most of the democracies of the world like India, Canada, and Australia the representative of the people form a government at the state and central level and so are chosen by the people through elections. In India elections are democratic for the following reasons-
1. Right to vote is available with each citizen of India irrespective of caste, creed, religion etc
2. Many parties can compete in elections and not just one or two specific parties only. Even individuals not belonging to any party can contest in elections as well.
3. The election commission is  an independent ,federal body that holds elections for state and center and also for local bodies . It is a constitutional body which helps for its independent functioning in the country.
So for all of above reasons Indian elections are considered as democratic.
