Yes, it is possible to convert a transparent glass sheet into a translucent object.

The two ways of converting a glass sheet into a translucent sheet are :
(i)  By smearing a thin layer of oil we may convert a transparent glass sheet into a translucent sheet. 
(ii) By covering one side with butter paper.
