answer the question

Dear Student
The state of agriculture during the british era from the following points of view -
1. Low productivity- Being an agrarian economy the agriculture production was very low because there is no use of irrigation facilities and fertilisers. The production of cash crops was extremely low as more focused is given to grow commercial crops.
2. Vulnerability- The farmers mainly cultivated rice and wheat for self - consumption .Agriculture sector is vulnerable because of zamindari sysytem as huge revenue is being collected by zamindar from the peasant there is no one who cares about productivity of land.As zamindars focused is on collection of revenue wheras farmers were exploited only. That is why agriculture sector became vulnerable.
3. A gap between owners of the soil and tillers of the soil -Because of zamindari system the owners focused is on collecting huge revenue and occupy maximumof foodgrains that will in turns make the tillers of soil poorand landless farmer .Owner of soil never focus about improving the productivity of soil and all this widen the gap between owner and cultivators of the soil.
