Gastrulation by invagination means that the movement of cells in the embryo also occurs by invagination. Invagination is one of the types of movements occurring during gastrulation during which an epithelial sheet of cells bends inward.

Gastrulation by Involution implies the inward rotation of cells as seen in the gastrulation of amphibian and avian eggs. 
 
Gastrulation by Ingression involves the movement of cells inwards.
