                                                                 PART A THEME AND PLOT BASED QUESTIONS
ANS 1 The friends were sitting in the room and discussing about how bad they were from a medical point of view. The three friends presumed that they were ill . The writer believed that his liver needed treatment while the other two felt giddy.
ANS 2 When the writer visited the doctor,the doctor examined him thoroughly but couldn't find traces of any disease . Howevr he wrote a prescription. He prescribed him beafsteak,bitter beer,a ten mile walk every day and not to fill his head with things he didn't understand.
ANS 3 The writer criticized the idea of sea trip very strongly.He referred that his brother in law went for a sea trip and instead of enjoying , he became frustrated.
ANS 3 Montmorency, the dog didn't like the idea of going up the river but nobody considered his objection. he thought that there was nothing for him to do there. he called the whole thing bally foolishness.

ANS 1 The writer presumed that he was ill and his liver was out of order. He believed that he was suffering from all the diseases except housemaid's knee .And he thought that , Why hadn't he get it ?. Actually he was quite lazy and his illness was just psychological.
ANS 2 George had presumed that he had bits of giddiness,but there's never anything really the matter with him. But he appeared as a sensible person and, in fact was the most sensible person among all the three.

Summary of the 1st chapter is as follows: Three friends George Harris and narrator Jerome are chatting in the latter's house one day. The conversation is about their state of health and how they have all been feeling rather unwell. Jerome feels that something is definitely wrong with his liver because he has been reading an advertisement of liver medicine and all the symptoms that are listed there, match his own. He finds it inexplicable that whenever he reads about a disease, he feels certain that he has it. Once he went to the British Museum to read up on hay fever and ended up reading all the diseases listed in the book except for "housemaid's knee ", he had all the ailments he then tried to feel his heart and become thoroughly alarmed when he could not feel it's beat in distress he sort of the doctor friend
