Dear Mr. Sharma

Subject: Ill- effects of demonetisation

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to share my views on the ill-effects of demonetisation.

With five months having elapsed since the announcement of currency demonetisation in India, some negative outcomes are still pinching the Indian citizens. I would like to share some facts on this with you.

First and foremost it has inconvenienced the senior citizens and old and sick people. Many have died standing in long queues to withdraw money, most have come back day after day to get the money as ATM machines go cashless within hours of daybreak, and about 30% population do not have a bank account at all.

People with forthcoming weddings in their family have faced serious embarrassment due to lack of cash for making preparations, many critically ill people have been denied treatment, corrupt people are burning old notes, and it seems the big fish or the people with overseas bank accounts will find ways to continue corruption.

I hope these can be addressed soon, and we find a semblance of calm and enough notes in the ATM machines.

Sincerely,
Sumana

Regards
