Applications of cytokinin

Dear student,
Cytokinin promotes cell division. Therefore, they are present in greater concentration in those areas of the plants where rapid cell division occurs. For example, tip of the shoot.
Following are the function of cytokinin:-
It stimulates shoot initiation and bud formation.
It promotes the growth of lateral bud.
It promotes cell division in roots and shoots of plant.
Applications of cytokinin:-
It promotes cell division.
It is helpful in breaking dormancy of seeds and thus helps in seed germination.
It inhibits apical dominance and helps in the growth of lateral buds
It delays senescence in leaves.
