Are coma patients living or non living ?explain why ? they don't show Consciousness

Solution:

Coma is a state of unconsciousness for long periods of time ranging from a few hours to many years. During this, the person is unable to respond to various stimuli and cannot perform any actions, but the person is living. In coma, the brain is not dead, instead patient fails to respond to different stimuli. In coma, the brain is functioning but at its lowest stage. It receives signals but is unable to react to them. This shows that sensory functions of brain are being performed but motor functions are not. Comas may last from several days to many years in severe cases. after this period, some patients may recover while some may die.
