Are linkers and connectors the same thing?

Dear Student,
Given below is the answer to your question.

A connector is a word that is used to join words or sentences.

And, as well as, but, or, yet, nevertheless, however, so that, as long as, while, until, as if, because, when, after, though, before.

  • A boy and a girl
  • An elephant and a giraffe
  • A toy or a book
  • The music was loud nevertheless it was enjoyable.

Type of connectors

  • co-ordinate connectors.. like an,or ,but, ex-- Ram and Sam are friends
  • co-relative connectors ,, like neither nor, either or, so as.etc ex--- Neither me nor she saw it
  • subordinate connectors..like when, whose, why etc.. ex-- I don't know why the students talk
Linkers are words that relate an idea or sentence of the text with another. These give direction to the writer and also help in the progression of the narrative.
E.g. He was unhappy 'because' the exam results had been delayed.
'Therefore', one should always brush their teeth to avoid cavity issues.

A conjunction is a word that joins sentences.
E.g. Nick 'and' Meetu are married to each other.
Sean is older than me 'but' we are the best of friends.
