Are there 3R or 5R of waste management. I'm confused. Experts plz tell me .

Dear Student,

The 3 Rs of managing wastes are:
(a) Reduce: We can reduce the amount of waste generated by consuming more and throwing away less.
(b) Reuse: We can reuse certain things for more than one purpose.
(c) Recycle: We can recycle waste materials to make new products.

The 5 Rs of managing wastes are:
(a) Refuse: Our lives are full of stuff we don't need, and each thing has an environmental cost
(b) Reduce: You can reduce your overall consumption by questioning all significant purchases and resisting impulse buying
(c)Reuse: Ditch disposable for reusable
(d) Repurpose: This one is simple and can go by many names. You may have seen it on this site under Upcycling, or DIY.
(e)Recycle: Anything made from metal, wood, most plastics, paper and cardboard, and electronic e-waste are all likely to have a recycling option.

The 4R's are: Reduce, reuse and recycle, refuse
