Ashoka's dhamma was an earnest attempt at solving some of the problems and tensions faced by a complex society. Justify the statement with reasons.

Solution-
Ashoka 's dhamma did not involve worshipping god or performing any sacrifice.There were number of problems that troubled Ashoka ,People in his empire follow different religions and this sometimes led to conflicts amongst them.Slaves and servant were very ill treated in the society. Beside this there were quarrels in family and among neighbors.Ashoka felt that it was his duty to solve these problems. So he appointed Dhamma mahamatta who went from place to place preaching people about dhamma .Besides Ashoka also inscribed his message in rocks and pillars instructing his officials to read it aloud to those who were illiterates.He built roads ,dug wells and spread message of dhamma to all over the world.
