in the central nervous system

Functions:
They provide nourishment to the neurons
They provide the neurons with some chemicals needed for the proper
functioning of the neurons
They also help to repair the brain and spinal cord if they have
undergone traumatic injuries
They also maintain extracellular ionic balance
