Balance the given chemical equation

Dear Student,

Balancing an equation means that the number of atoms on the reactant side = no of atoms on the product side.
Now, in this reaction, there are 2 hydrogen atoms on both sides, but 2 oxygens on the left side and only 1 on the right side. This means the reaction is unbalanced.
To balance an equation, we should first write 2 before H2O on the product side. This balances the oxygen, but now hydrogen is imbalanced.
H2 (g) + O2 (g) → 2 H2O (g)

Hence, to balance the hydrogen, we need to write 2 in front of H2 on the left hand side.
2H2 (g) + O2 (g) → 2 H2O (g)

Now this reaction is balanced.
