Before the invention of the compass , sailors used star to find directions. In what ways is the use of compass better?

first they used loadstone but it was a stone so it was difficult to get it but compass is same as load stone and we can get it in shop

as you say before they used stars and locating stars were confusing but in the case of compss it is very easy to locate directions so copasses  are better.

Stars were very helpful in finding directions at night but at day-time we can not use stars to find direction. So a magnet or compass are better in finding directions at day and even at night.

compass can be useful for finding the sailors destination as they didn't have Global Positioning System , stars were also not there in the days so the sailors cannot find the right direction , so the sailors used compass.
