Both Derry and Lamb are victims of physical impairment, but much more painful for them is the feeling of loneliness. Comment

Dear student,

While Derry had his face half burnt, Mr. Lamb had a tin leg and both of them were looked at with pity and disgust by people. Both of their impairments were different but the kind of treatment they received from the people around them and the feeling of loneliness was common to both of them. Their impairments had not given them as much pain and suffering as much the feeling of loneliness had given to them. As a result, Derry had been so negative in the beginning but with the help of Mr. Lamb's thoughts and optimism, Derry was able to face the world with a brave face.
