Buddhism and Jainism became popular under Siddharth and Mahavira .Both were kshatriyas. Do you think it is just a coincidence or there is a reason behind it?

It was just a coincidence that both were kshatriyas who popularised Buddhism and Jainism.
It was during their period the respective religion got their significance due to wide spreading of the principles of the religion which attracted the people to get converted to Buddhists and Jains respectively.
