Can 2 variables have same value in 1 equation?

Dear student,
2 variables can have the same value in one equation if the equation satisfies the values.
For example, if we consider the equation x+y=2, then x=1 and y=1 satisfy the equation. They have same value here.
We can consider another example like x=y.
Here the variables must have same value to satisfy the equation.
