can a particle be acclerated:-
a) if its speed is constant.
b) if its velocity is constant.
Give Reason.
a )
Yes ,a particle can be accelerated when it is moving with constant speed.
When a point object is moving on a horizontal circular path with a constant speed, the direction of its velocity vector at an instant is changing with time.It means in a uniform circular motion velocity vector of the object is changing with time.
b) No, if a body is travelling with constant velocity then it can not acclerate.
Because Acceleration = Change in velocity / time . As change in velocity is zero ,so acceleration is also zero.
