CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THE MERISTEMATIC TISSUE EXPERIMENT ABOUT THE ONION BULB EXPERIMENT
PLEASE MENTION THE OBSERVATIONS IN THE EXPERIMENT ALSO.
This experiment simply means that growth of plants occur only in certain specific region.
Take two glass jars and fill them with water.
Now,take two onion bulbs and place one on each jar.
Observe the growth of roots in both the bulb s for a few days
After that cut the root of the onion in the second jar by 1cm. now we know that the root in the first jar grows better than the second one.
This is because by cutting the root of the onion bulb in 2nd jar we have also missed the apical meristem present in the tip of root and stem which helps in increasing the length of stem and root.
