Dear Student,
Symmetry means the  figure and the area of figure on both the sides of a given reference line is equal.
Here the reference line is the dotted line and if you calculate the area of figure on the both sides of the dotted line they will be similar. Mostly we can easily observe the symmetry of any figure just by looking at it.If you look af figures  d e and f you wll notice that both the parts of the figure on both the sides of the reference line seems to be equal.These are just examples to show what symmetry is.
