can elements come together to form compounds

Dear student,

Atoms of an element or more than one elements join together to form compounds. This can be explained to you by taking the example of formation of water from hydrogen and oxygen element. Water is compound because its properties are different from its constituent elements (hydrogen and oxygen).

Here, hydrogen element combines with oxygen element to give water which is a compound.

Reaction : H2 + O2 -----> H2O
