can i have a labelled diagram of vestibular appratus ?

Vestibule apparatus is a complex system present in the inner ear, located above the cochlea. It is composed of three semi circular canal and the otolith organ consisting of saccule & utricule.

Semi circular canals:- Each canal lies in a different plane at right angles to each other. These canals open into the utricle. The base of canals is swollen and is called ampulla, which contains a projecting ridge called crista ampullaris which has hair cells. These hair cells are sensory.

Saccule & Utricle:- Utricle communicates with semi circular canals whereas Saccule leads to the cochlear duct. The saccule and utricle contain a projecting ridge called macula. The crista and macula are the specific receptors of the vestibular apparatus responsible for maintenance of balance of the body and posture.
