can solid NaOH be used to prepare its standard solution?

In our laboratory, we prepare standard solution of NaOH using solid NaOH. Solid NaOH has the tendency to absorb water from the atmosphere. Thus, when we weigh it to make a solution of desired concentration, the weighed NaOH also contains water. 

So, we titrate the prepared or given NaOH solution with oxalic acid to determine its actual concentration and thus to standardize it.
