Can some fruits and vegetables conduct electricity ? Explain with an example .

Dear student,

Yes, Some Fruits and vegetables can conduct electricity since they contain vitamins, minerals and acidic juices like citric acid and ascorbic acid which create an electric current that can power small electronics.
Take any fruit or vegetable and press them slightly from each side to prepare for the experiment. Insert a zinc electrode on one side of the fruit or vegetable and a copper electrode on the other side. Take two LED leads and connect one lead to the zinc electrode and other to the copper electrode with the help of electric tape. Now you can observe that the LED light turns on. You can record the current by using a multimeter and you can also record how long the LED light stays.

Activity 2- Conducting through a potato

1) Take a potato and cut it into two halves. (use only one half of potato)

2) Take a wire and join one terminal to battery and

3) Insert the positive terminal to the potato.

4) Then take one wire and join the one end of the wire to negative terminal to the battery and another end of the wire to potato.

Yes some fruits and vegetables can conduct electricity. For example, a lemon has citric acid, this small concentrated acid carry the charge of the electricity.

Many fruits and vegetables can conduct electricity and, in some cases, even create an electric current that can power small electronics.
Potatoes, onions, and tomatoes conduct electricity quite well. Tomatoes are good conductors in the vegetable category, as they have the highest acidity level. Scientists have show potatoes work very well as batteries. Acids make ions, charged particles when placed in a solution like, water, which many types of fruits and vegetables contain in abundance.
Citrus fruits work as excellent conductors due, again, to their high acidity level and the presence of water within them. Some notable examples of good conductors include apples, grapefruit, oranges, lemons, and limes.

Hope it helps u...
