Dear student,
Here is the answer:
a) Simple past tense:
b) Past perfect tense :
Here is the answer:
a) Simple past tense:
- Simple past tense talks about the events or happenings that happened in the past.
- The most common words used with simple past tense are last week, yesterday, two months ago etc.
- The verbs in simple past tense are formed by adding -d or -ed, such as walked or played. Some irregular verbs change in a different manner in simple past tense. For example the word 'go' becomes 'went' in simple past tense.
- I went to the market.
- She waited at the bus stop.
b) Past perfect tense :
- This is used to talk about the actions which were completed in the past at some point in the past. For example : She had eaten her breakfast.
- It also talks about something which happened before something else. For example : She had finished her breakfast before the bus arrived.
- Past perfect tense is also used to express condition. For example : If I had known that she would come, I would have made arrangements.
- We use had + past participle of the verb.
- She had met her before the interview.
- The train had left before I reached the station.
