can transfer of heat by convection occur in solids .why?

Heat transfer of convection does not take place in the case of solids because , in liquids, when the molecules are heated they rise up and come to the top. But in case of solids the molecules are tightly packed and does not have the space to move . That is why in solids the transfer of heat takes place through conduction in which the heat is travelling from one molecule to the others by passing on the heat.
