Can u explain the first mitosis after the sperm enters the ovum

Solution:

Upon fusion, the membranes of spermatozoan and egg cell dissolve so that there is no barrier between the two cells. But during this dissolution, a mitotic spindle is formed between them. This spindle captures chromosomes in it before they get dispersed in the cytoplasm of egg cell. When it undergoes mitosis, the cell gathers genetic material from both cells. Thus, we can say that the first mitosis of union of egg and sperm is actually the fusion of their captured chromosomes. The resulting daughter cells from this mitosis contains one replica of each chromatid that got replicated in the previous stage.
