इस कविता में कवि ने शहरों की इस विडंबना की ओर संकेत किया है कि जीवन की सहजता समाप्त होती जा रही है, बनावटी चीज़ों के प्रति लोगों का लगाव बढ़ता जा रहा है। सब आगे निकलना चाहते हैं, आपसी प्रेम, आत्मियता घटती जा रही है। लोगों की और रहने के स्थान की पहचान खोती जा रही है। स्वार्थ केन्द्रित लोगों के पास दूसरे के लिए समय ही नहीं है। आज की चीज़ कल पुरानी पड़ जाती है, कुछ भी स्थाई नहीं है।

Naye Ilake Mein
This poem (in short) is about a man who comes to his village for a visit. He realises that he doesn't recognize the place at all. He finds a lot of new buildings, industries and landmarks that weren't there before. He talks about how he's realised that so much time has passed only now and when he knocks on the door of his house he wonders whether it even is his house because of how long it has been since he hasn't gone home and how many new establishments there are.
Khushboo Rachte Hai Hathh
In this poem, Arun Kamal talks about agarbattis (incense sticks). He talks about how they give a nice smell and hoe they bring us joy but the places where they are made are very dirty and smelly. He also talks about the people who make them. These people include poor people, women, little children and people all determination (all people who are considered unfortunate). Most people are disgusted by these people and the places where incense sticks are made but these people are never appreciated for the work they do despite their conditions. The poem mainly talks about how we should respect such people (appreciate them) and to not make fun or ridicule them.
