canonical form with no charge separation is the most stable what does it mean??

Dear Student,

Stability of a contributing structure is decreased with an increase in charge separation. Structures with formal charges are less stable than uncharged structures.
This is because separation of opposite charges requires energy and greater the energy lesser is the stability. Therefore, structures in which opposite charges are separated have greater energy and thus lower stability than those that have no charge separation.
Eg.

Here, the I structure has charge separation whereas II doesnot have charge separation.
Hence II will be more stable and will contribute more to the resonance hybrid.
