Carter had to chisel away the solidified resins to raise the king’s remains.

Carter landed in deep trouble when he finally found the mummy of the famous king Tut. The mummy was hardened, cementing Tut to the bottom of his solid gold coffin. No authentic force could move or separate the mummy from its base. Carter also tried to loosen the resins by putting the mummy in the blazing sunshine of Egypt. However, every effort went in vain. At last, Carter had to chisel away from beneath the limbs and trunk before it could be possible to raise the remains of the king.
