central idea of poem The Voice Of Rain.

Dear student,

The central idea of the poem is 'What goes around, comes around'. The rain conveys the water which evaporates from the sea and aids in the formation of clouds, which upon precipitation are returned to where they came from.​The movement of the rain is mirrored in the lyrical tonality of the poem, it flows like a song just as the drops of rain move and replenish the earth. The rain goes about its work, creating and restoring life, it is this quiet beauty that is evoked in this poem.

• In the poem rain talks about two different moods that we see in it. It calls itself the giver of life.

For example:  I am like earthly life, which begins at 
The feet of the mad elements and ends 
Under the upraised wings of death.

• Then it talks about its destructive quality and how it destroys the heat that gives it birth. 

For example:  The heat in the air gives birth to me, 
But in turn I kill it, 
As woman overcomes man with 
The strength she takes from him.
