Nationalism is a feeling which comes in minds of people even of different sections of society when they come to face same political,social, and economic conditions. Nationalism during colonial times arised among different groups , classes of people in India when they got exploited by the harsh policies of colonial rule. These rulers tried to exploit their powers too much which forced people to start anti-colonial movement against those peoplein order to throw them off out of power . In India the anger for foreign rule brought together various classes, societies, religious groups, who organised revolts and Marchs and ultimately came towards a common struggle for freedom. Moreover these people developed a thinking that the oppression must have to be stopped inorder for them to restore their glorious past and freedom. The struggle against common foreign rulers and their draconian policies les the people of India to come together into one anti colonial movement of freedom. Finally the idea of India started emerging gradually.
