Mrs. S is a kind woman although a bit naive. She truly believes that Mrs. Dorling is trying to help her protect her items from damage during the war. She does not personally ask Mrs. Dorling for any kind of help and even after Mrs. Dorling offers to help, she does not tell Mrs. Dorling to keep the items safe. She trusts Mrs. Dorling wholeheartedly, even though she was meeting her after a very long time. She eventually gave everything she owned to Mrs. Dorling when the war came and fled along with her daughter. Yet she was a considerate woman, and wanted her daughter to come back after the war to collect all of the things from Mrs Dorling.
