comment on the relationship between madame and monsieur loisel

Dear student,

Madame Liosel was always fascinated by the high standards of living though she could not afford it. When her husband handed over the invitation from the Minister of Public Instruction, she grumbled about not having a good dress to wear at the ball. However, her husband found a solution to this. Following this, she was hesitant to go without wearing jewels. She borrowed a necklace from her friend Forester. After thoroughly enjoying the praises of others at the party, they returned home to realise that she had lost the necklace. They wrote a letter to Forester saying that the clasp needed to be repaired and therefore they needed some time. Within this period, they found a necklace that resembled the previous one and decided to buy it for thirty six thousand francs. In order to accumulate this money, they borrowed, took money from usurers and lenders. Thus, they were in a huge debt. For the following ten years, they lived a hard life where M.Liosel worked into the evenings and night and Madame Liosel undertook different jobs like washing clothes, going to the grocers, etc. and every task at hand. They also sent away their maid and rented some rooms in the attic. Thus, ten years of toil and hardship was the result of Madame Liosel's desire for luxury and pomp. The very fact that Monsieur Loisel stood beside his wife and struggled for ten long years, despte her folly of desiring more than they could afford. shows what a devoted husband he was.

Monsieur and Madame Loisel are entirely different. Their relationship, as many marriages of their time, was meant to be cordial, with the man serving as the primary provider of the household and the woman as the nurturing force of the home. In their case it is not like that. This is primarily because of Madame Loisel.
