a. Surat was an important commercial town which became an important center of commercial activities. Located near the sea it became the hub of economic activities whereby goods could be traded via sea route  Hampi is located in the Krishna-Tungabhadra basin, and had well planned gardens, orchards. Masulipatnam rose to prominence in the 17th century. Being an important part of Andhra coast, the European companies like the Dutch and English wanted to establish control over it,
b. . Portuguese, English, Dutch has set up their factories in Surat.
Surat had a flourishing business of cotton textiles which was exported on a large scale to West Asia, Africa and Europe
It became an important cultural and commercial centre in the 15th and 16th century. It was known for its trade in spices, textiles,
c. Surat became gate to Mecca , because many pilgrim ships set sail from here.

Many European traders like Portuguese traded extensively in hampi markets. .After the Golconda was annexed by the Mughals , the company looked for alternative centers where they would combine political, administrative and commercial power and moved to Bombay,
d. Presently, Surat is an important commercial hub. Presently, Hampi stands in ruin and is an endangered site, Maulipatnam lost both traders and merchants and its lost its prosperity.
Presently, it is an isolated town.
