compare and contrast the character of Mr. Lamb and Derry?

Mr. Lamb was a person filled with positive attitude. Even though he lost a leg in a war, as army veteran, he does not blame God for being unkind to him. He does not indulge in self- pity. Left with no job, he starts making jams and jellies from garden apples. This shows his undaunting courage.

On the other hand, Derry is affected by inferiority complex and gives a lot of importance to what others say about him. He is full of bitterness about his handicap. He was scarred on one side of his cheek. But eventually, he learns from Mr. Lamb and sheds his negative attitude.
