Dear Student,
Please find below the answer to your question
  • The February Revolution started after the First World War was over and Russia was trying to recover from its effects.
  • In February 1917, workers on the right bank of Neva from about 50 factories called a strike. There was open firing in some clashes, but still, the strike continued.
  • The Duma established a provisional government after which within some days Czar Nicholas abdicated his throne.
  • Leaders of this government set up a liberal program of rights such as freedom of speech, equality before the law, and the right of unions to organize and strike. They opposed the violent social revolution.
  • This revolution saw the fall of the monarchy.
  • The major changes were that people were free to meet in public.
  • Many unions of workers were formed.
  • Lenin came back from his exile and spread three points from April thesis i.e. bringing the war to an end, transferring land to the peasants, and nationalizing the banks.

The October revolution had started due to the below reasons:
  1. As the provincial government saw Lenin as a threat and hence started arresting the Bolsheviks and stopped the spread of their ideas.
  2. Lenin feared the dictatorship of Kerinskii and so he convinced the Bolsheviks to stage an uprising. He established a Military Revolutionary Committee under Leon Trotskii.
  3. In October 1917, the Bolsheviks seized power from the provincial government with the help of Leon Trotskii, .
  4. October 1917, saw the rise and fall of the Kerenskii government, the fall of the monarchy, and finally the rise of Lenin and the Bolsheviks.
  5. After this revolution, Bolsheviks did not allow people to own private properties rather many industries and banks were nationalized by 1917, and lands were declared as social property.
  6. Peasants were allowed to take possession of the land of the nobility.
