Compare the collapse between Russian monarchy and provisional government

Dear Student,

The Russian monarchy collapsed in March 1917 and the provisional government collapsed in November 1917. The reasons behind their collapse was basically the same. It was the reverses that Russia was suffering in the First World War and the consequent shortages of food, economic problems and high inflation at home. The immediate cause of the fall of the monarchy in March 1917 was the food rationing that was introduced which led to widespread public protests and demonstrations.

The monarchy was replaced by the provisional government which, however, could not solve the social and economic problems in Russia. As a result, it also collapsed in November 1917. The important difference was that while the uprisings that led to the collapse of the monarchy were spontaneous, the collapse of the provisional govrnment was triggered by the Bolsheviks.

Regards.
