Happiness has different meaning for different people. We learn this from the examples of people like Saheb and Mukesh. While Saheb found happiness in obtaining a coin or two while digging through garbage and looking forward to going to a school built by the narrator. For Mukesh it meant breaking free from the lineage of bangle making and becoming a motor mechanic.
