The symbolism in this poem is about the modernisation. People are cutting down trees mercilessly for their own purposes. They want to show how much they love nature and so they grow small plants inside their homes. The plants want fresh air and so they are wilting away. The trees in the forests are being cut down but love is shown to the small plants that are grown just for the sake of beautifying the houses.
