A cell whose resistance when filled with 0.1 M kcl is 200 ohm, is measured to be 6400 ohm, when filled with 0.003M nacl solution. All measurements are at 298 K. what is the equivalent conductance of nacl solution.

Specific conductance of 0.1 KCl solution at 298 K= 1.2886 ohm-1cm-1
Now,
specific conductance = cell constant x conductance
cell constant = 1.2886 x resistance  (since; conductance = 1/resistance)
  = 1.2886 x 200
  = 257.72 cm-1
For NaCl solution, specific conductance = cell constant x conductance
  = 257.72 x 1/6400
                    = 0.040 ohm-1cm-1
molar conductance = specific conductance/ concentration
  = 0.040/ 0.003
  = 13.33 ohm-1 cm2 mol-1
Now,
Molar conductance /equivalent conductance = molar mass of electrolyte/equivalent mass of electrolyte
13.33/ equivalent conductance  = molar mass of NaCl/equivalent mass of NaCl
  = 58.5/58.5
  =1
Equivalent conductance = 13.33/1
  =13.33 ohm-1 cm2 equiv-1
