Aeration: It is a process by which air is pumped into wastewater so that aerobic bacteria can act on the waste matter.
Aerobic bacteria: Bacteria that need oxygen to decompose organic matter.

Contaminants: Dissolved and suspended solid impurities present in the sewage.
