curd cannot be stored in a aluminium utensil. why?
Curd contains lactic acid. Aluminium reacts with acids to release hydrogen and form the corresponding aluminium salt. Aluminium is a toxic metal and presence of aluminium salts contaminates the food. Aluminium accumulates in the body and interferes with the absorption of calcium. This causes weakness of bones and growth retardation especially in children. Aluminium intoxication can lead to ulcers, heartburn, Parkinson’s disease, mental retardation.
