Saheb the ragpicker who used to work picking rags along with his friends, which was an adventure for him. As he said the author that sometimes he used to find a ten rupee coin while scrounging in the garbage thus this made rag picking even more exciting for him which was like treasure hunt for them. Though he did not earn much/ benefited from it much.
When Saheb worked in the tea stall which paid him 800 rupees per day with full meal which was a much better work than rag picking he wasn't happy. The heavy steel canister which he must carry is heavier than his bag. He has lost all his freedom and has to work under someone. The canister than belonged to someone and Saheb no longer his own master
