Dear experts please explain classification of organic compounds
Dear students,
Organic compounds can be classified into Open chain and cyclic compounds.
Open chain compounds are further classified into straight-chain compounds and branched-chain compounds.
Straight chain compounds contain carbons and hydrogens present in a straightway. For example n-hexane, n-butane
Branched-chain compounds contain branching. For example 2 methyl propane.
The cyclic compound also known as a ring compound, in this series of atoms is connected in the form of a ring.
Heterocyclic compounds contain a heteroatom.
