Yes, Methyl alcohol can be used to extract DNA from fruits like banana and kiwi. The function of alcohol is that the DNA clumps are soluble (can be dissolved) in some liquids, but not in alcohol. So adding alcohol helps the clumps of DNA to form. In the experiment when the alcohol layer is set up ,bubbles and cloudy material moving around in the alcohol. This is the DNA pieces clumping together.
