1) Business environment refers to all external forces that affect the performance of an organisation. Now, since every factor which is external to the organisation can affect the performance of the organisation in some way or the other, therefore, it is justified that if we take the universe and subtract from it the subset that represents the organisation and the remainder is environment or business environment.

2) The forces of business environment are interrelated with each other. This makes the understanding of their behaviour quite difficult and complex for the organisation. Hence, business environment is complex in nature.
