'Dear Father in Heaven, I have done something at last'. Who makes this prayer in the story. The Birth? Why?

"I have done something at last" was said by the young inexperienced doctor, Dr. Andrew. After operating Joe's wife successfully and being able to give life to the lifeless baby, Dr Andrew was immensely happy and satisfied with the miraculous job he had done. This is when he appreciated himself and said that he has finally achieved something real.
